How to end a scene.
Many writers, me included, struggle with ending a scene well.
Structurally, including a goal, conflict, can climax fulfills your requirements. Most writing advise also prescribes having a resolution or decision as the last part of your scene. However, many writers choose to end with the climax and start the next scene or chapter with the decision as a way to keep the readers turning the page.
Another way I’ve found that works is to resolve your climax and, in the resolution, set up your protagonist’s next goal.
Let me know if you’ve discovered works the best to keep you interested in the story and turning the pages.
