Nanowrimo Day 15: Scene Transitions

Question of the day:

What is the best way to write scene transitions?

There are many ways to transition from one scene to another. It will depend on what kind of scene or story you are telling. If you are writing fantasy, you may want to transition using a dramatic image or action. If you are writing a dual POV (point of view) story, a shift in POV character will signal a new scene or chapter.

You may just have a shift in tone from serious and to lighthearted or whimsical. If you are writing a heavy scene, say where a character dies or loses something personally valuable, you may want to give your readers a break from the gloom or sorrow by adding in come light comedy or heartwarming moment.

So, it’s a trick question. The best method to transition between scene will depend on you and the story you are telling.
